As a web development student I have a seemingly endless interest in web design. I always want to learn more, particularly about up and coming technologies such as html5/ css3.
Everything I know I have taught myself over 4 years, starting as a complete amateur, to now being able to develop fully functioning and interesting websites, that work across multiple browsers, and for a wide range of audiences. Recently I voluntarily did a 3 week work experience with a web design company in London (www.lastexit.tv) where they let me loose with some of their source code for a new client of theirs. My task was to make it compatible on the most stubborn browser, IE6, and within a week it was looking great.
But it's not all about the know-how. Being the operations director for my 'Young Enterprise' company some 2 years ago has given me chance to develop my team working and leadership skills, which I put to good use this summer working with my dad at 'Nissan Technical Centre', and later in a foreign work environment at 'Last Exit, London'.
But don't take me for the average website-techie... you know the kind; the ones that get all mysterious and complicated with their websites, making it almost impossible for a user to do what their supposed to do... use the website! During my time at college, I set out to design a website for my school's racing team, and develop it so that the content could be updated by an average joe, and after a very steep learning curve, I'd got the grasp of content management systems, and made a usable site, that they could sustain when I left for uni. You can check it out here... www.mytonracing.co.uk.
From what I understand about this job, this is right up my alley. It's my first year at Loughborough, and I want to make my stamp on it and get involved... be part of the team, gain experinece for free and really show what I can do.
Working as the company operations director in Young Enterprise during my time at college has enabled me to better value an idividual's own skills and put them to best use, whilst being part of the team at my dad's workplace has taught me just how important listening and commuinicating is within a team, even when your role is not as important os others. Most importantly, though, was the recent experience I had at Last Exit, where I finally got a real understanding for the pressure and importance of timing within a company. I've got tonnes of experince designing/developing/publishing websites. Wanna see some?

Boundless enthusiasm and plenty of creativity. I love making a page that gives the user the same WOW experience as a bolt of lightning up their bum. I can already imagine ways to make the viewing of online articles a better experience and more enjoyable. From me, you can simply expect determination, a whole heap of ideas, and a curiousity that'll make the online Label magazine more and more interesting as time goes by.
